I. Choose a paragraph from the Bible
Write it or type it with several
spaces between each line
Ask the
questions: Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How?
II. From the same passage ask 3
questions
What does it teach
about God?
God the Son values women
He spoke to his women friends
about spiritual things
He heard the complaint of one
sister against the other
He called them by name
He knew what was going on in
their hearts
God the Son values "listening to
Him" over being "worried and bothered about many things."
What did this event
mean to these people?
They saw Jesus as a person they
wanted to invite into their homes.
They understood that Jesus was a
person whose words were worth heeding.
They learned that He did not want
them to be worried and bothered.
Is there
application to my life?
As Martha welcomed Jesus into her
home -- I will welcome Him
As Mary sat at His feet and
listened to Him--so I will sit at His feet and listen to Him. To do that I
will try to spend 15 minutes per day listening to Him as I read the
Book of Luke.
When being worried and bothered
consumes me, I will listen to Him.
Use these simple questions on any passage
of scripture.
They work best with narrative passages such as found
in the Gospels
(Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and the book of Acts.
